WNST 2016/17 review published

We are pleased to announce the publication of our 2016/17 Annual Review, a copy of which can be downloaded here.

The report reviews our five years of grant-making for community sports activities in the London Borough of Brent, where Wembley Stadium is located.  During that time, we have invested around £1.5m in grants to some 150 different organisations, benefitting, we estimate, around 10,000 local people.

We also take the opportunity to look back at our disability sports programme in London and the work we funded as part of this initiative with the community trusts of the capital’s professional football clubs, to encourage more than 3,000 disabled Londoners to play football.  We also welcome our new partnership in London with the National Governing Bodies of cricket, hockey and netball, working together to encourage more girls to get involved in team sports.

Across England, we are partnering with the EFL Trust to promote a wide range of disability football opportunities – building on the work we supported in London.  In the first year alone of this programme, 25 of the EFL clubs up and down the country have engaged with around 3,500 disabled people, many getting out and playing football for the first time.  We look forward to reporting further success on this programme in the years to come.
