England-wide grants programmes
Since 2016, we have funded the EFL Trust and the Club Community Organisations of around 40 of the EFL clubs to deliver a wide-scale programme of disability football activities. Each club was allowed to bid for funds to support whatever provision was most needed within its own local area. The breadth of the programme has therefore been considerable and has included football for wheelchair users, people with enduring mental ill health, young people with autism, those with a visual or hearing impairment and amputee service veterans.
Across the programme, around 15,000 individuals have benefitted and we know from feedback that the projects have made a positive and profound difference to many people’s lives, building self-confidence and personal skills level, as well as footballing ability.
