Grants programme – Closed programmes

Brent Capital Grants programme 2017-18

The use of Wembley Stadium by Tottenham Hotspur for two seasons, whilst their own stadium was rebuilt, created am additional income stream for the Trust. Part of this was used to fund eleven capital grants distributing around £100,000, which would provide a longer-term legacy of Spurs’ presence in the borough. These grants included building repairs and renovations as well as larger equipment purchases.

LB Haringey Small Grants Scheme 2017-18

The remainder of the income generated through Spurs’ tenure of Wembley Stadium was used to fund a small grants scheme in LB Haringey, the club’s home borough – recognising both that local people there would have been the largest contributors to the additional income and the issue of having to travel to “home” games and the lost revenue for some local organisations on match days. In all, 37 grants were made totalling some £77,000 covering a range of sports and clubs.

National League Trust 2018-20

This was WNST’s first support for clubs playing below Football League level. The NLT was looking to pilot a programme of support for some of its clubs to develop their women and girls’ work. Grants were also only open to those clubs whose community organisation was registered with the Charity Commission, promoting better governance. Nine clubs across the country were supported, with around 600 participants of all ages and abilities.
