After twelve years as Chief Executive Officer of the Wembley National Stadium Trust (WNST), Stewart Goshawk has announced his decision to step down for pastures new and will depart on 31st March 2024.
Stewart has led WNST since its establishment in 2012, contributing to its position as a trusted grant-maker in the third sector. Notable work includes forging partnerships and connections across the London Borough of Brent to support local sports clubs and community groups with their on-going development.
Throughout Stewart’s tenure, WNST has awarded over 500 grants in Brent, with a total value exceeding £3million, creating a positive impact for a range of local sports initiatives. Additionally, a further £4million in funding has provided essential support for disabled people and women and girls through meaningful partnerships with the EFL Trust and the National League Trust at a national level.
The Trust is also undertaking a full strategic review to ensure it maximises its reach, impact and effectiveness.

“When I supported the initial Trustees to establish WNST as a grant-making foundation, I never thought I would still be here more than a decade later. But the commitment, vision and diversity of the local sports organisations in Brent is genuinely inspiring and it has been a real pleasure to work alongside them over all these years. I am sure that the funding and wider support the Trust has provided has helped make the sector stronger and more secure. I’m proud to have played my part both within Brent and further afield. But the time is now right for me to move onto the next challenge.”
