WNST publishes Annual Review for 2019-20

The WNST Annual Review has now been published, looking back at all of the excellent work that was undertaken in the months and days before the covid-19 pandemic struck and everything ground to a halt.

You can find a copy of the review Here.

Because of the pandemic, we have chosen for the first time to produce only this electronic version of the review – although this does mean that we have been able to get the publication out to more people, more quickly.

Reflecting on the year to March 2020, we were making a real impact across all three of our fields of interest. Locally in LB Brent, we continued to support a wide range of sporting activities for residents to enjoy; and the report shines a light on the initiative to support local people to improve their mental health, as well as our involvement in the establishment of Brent’s first football league for local young players.  Across London with our girls team sports funding for TeamUp, working with the governing bodies of Cricket, Hockey and Netball, should by now have been completed, but as with everything, the health crisis has delayed the final closure of the programme. Around England our partnership with the EFL Trust and many of our professional football clubs, to deliver projects for disabled footballers was renewed during the last financial year and continues to deliver fantastic stories of life-changing impact.

WNST CEO, Stewart Goshawk, told us “One of the things that this pandemic has taught us all, is the value of getting out into the fresh air and staying fit and healthy – both for our physical and mental well-being.  The groups we fund have been incredibly supportive of their service users during these unprecedented times. As a funder we are committed to being as flexible and accommodating with our grant awards as we can be, in support of local clubs.  Like many trusts and foundations we are a signatory to the London Funders pledge #WeStandWithTheSector .  Hopefully, soon we can all get back to playing the sports we love.
